The research team is made up of researchers from ING-IND/08 and /09 SSDs. The team is mainly engaged in the following research topics:
- Study of micro gas turbines supplied with liquid and gaseous biofuels, with CFD based and experimental methods.
- Characterization of the volumetric or dynamic expander in ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) systems.
- Hybrid systems utilizing fossil fuels and biofuels, combined with power units for the thermodynamic conversion of solar energy
- Energy systems based on geothermal sources, integrated with solar energy and biomasses, in low-medium range (30 / 200 kW) power plants.
- Environmental impact analysis from energy systems and related emission maps from concentrated (i.e., industrial sites) or distributed sources.
- Combustion and pollutant production in diesel engines, depending on the fuel supplied.
- Diesel engines in Dual Fuel mode, with a reacting mixture of air with natural gas or biogas.
- Optimization of energy costs in industrial systems through distributed combined generation of heat and power.
