International Relations
Course description
The master's degree in "International Relations" aims to train specialists capable of thoroughly and critically analyzing political systems, the relationships between them, the geopolitical areas, the reasons for tensions and conflicts, the ways of resolutions of such conflicts, the role of international organizations - including the EU. In particular, the aim is to provide a solid education of advanced level, extending and reinforcing knowledge especially as regards the internationalist approach of the historical and political subjects, economic and political analysis. The interdisciplinary approach with particular attention to an in-depth analysis of most geo-political areas also contribute to further expanding students' skills and knowledge, also allowing them to develop critical comprehension, analytical and problem-solving skills adaptable to many different workplaces. Advanced and in-depth knowledge of historical and legal, economic and political issues results in a professional and flexible graduate profile, as is required by the social partners consulted. In particular, students will learn:
- how to organize and manage projects
- how to analyze and solve new problems
- how to use negotiation and mediation skills.
To this end, student-centered teaching methods will enhance, through seminar discussions, the students' ability to synthesize both written and spoken texts focused on specific cases, and the preparation of a thesis will enable them to expand their communication and presentation skills. As for the study of languages, aimed at developing academic and professional skills, in addition to English, which is the medium of communication throughout the degree course, students will be introduced to another international language, either Chinese or Arabic. Additionally, an English language module will be specifically aimed at sensitizing students to stylistic and socio-pragmatic communicative issues, and preparing them to successfully interact in international and cross-cultural encounters.
