Summer School in European Environmental Taxation and Policies (SUSEET 2.0)
Summer School in European Environmental Taxation and Policies (SUSEET 2.0)
From September 8 to 13, 2025 at the Department of Law the now traditional appointment with the Summer School in European Environmental Taxation and Policies (SUSEET 2.0) will be renewed. This is a school of higher education, organized by the Department of Law of the University Federico II, funded by the European Commission under the Jean Monnet Actions.
SUSEET 2.0 is also promoted by the AURORA Alliance European inter-university network selected by the European Commission as part of the European University Initiative, whose mission is to combine quality research with educational innovation and social impact.
The Course, which is included among the activities of LUPT, was created under the auspices of the PNRR projects HerIT4future (TNE23-00041) and SULIEIA (TNE23-00011), both from the European Union, as part of Next Generation EU - Mission 4 "Education and Research" - Component 1 "Strengthening the supply of services to education: from kindergartens to universities From research to business" - Investment 3.4 "University Teaching and Advanced Skills" T4 "Transnational Initiatives in Education" coordinated respectively by Professor Carla Masi, Director of the Department of Law(HerIT4future) and Professor Valeria Costantino, Delegate for the Rector for Erasmus Relations,(SULIEIA).
SUSEET 2.0 is a natural continuation of the previous three-year SUSEET, Summer School in European Environmental Taxation, which was characterized by high participation of young Europeans and Latin Americans. As with SUSEET, the second triennium - in which the study of policies is now added to European principles in environmental taxation - is aimed at undergraduates/doctoral students in law, economics and political science and, more generally, at young people in training with respect to the ever-current issues related to environmental policies. The objective is to provide participants with specific skills on the topic of taxation and environmental policies, so central at this historical moment, through a series of lectures conducted by national and European experts. The lectures will be held in English.
Some 55 students and young scholars from all parts of Europe, from Argentina, Chile, to Morocco and Tunisia, have been selected by call for participation for the second cycle.
The key staff of SUSEET, coordinated by Professor Roberta Alfano and Dr. Marina Bisogno of the Department of Law, is composed of experts who have gained specific research or professional experience in the field, pertaining to universities (Universities of Bologna, Seville, Catholic University of Leuven, Barcelona, Geneva, San Pablo CEU in Madrid) and national and international entities (OECD, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Environment, Intesa Sanpaolo Group)
The sessions will include the participation of numerous scholars from the Athenaeum and guests from academia, national and European institutions as well as the business world involved in the ecological transition to which this year, thanks to the two TNE - PNRR projects, will be joined by academics from Argentina, Chile, Tunisia and Morocco.
The first session, as last year, will be opened by the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies, the Honorable Sergio Costa, former Minister of the Environment and General of the Carabinieri Corps who headed the infamous operations that uncovered the "land of fires."
The School's detailed program and access links to individual sessions are also posted on its website https://www.suseet.eu/
