Honorary degree to Antonio Loffredo Parish priest of Rione Sanità

Antonio

OnTuesday, July 2, 2019, at 11 a.m ., at Corso Umberto I, 40, in the historic Aula Magna, the Rector of the University of Naples Federico II, Gaetano Manfredi, will confer an honorary Master's Degree in Architecture on Antonio Loffredo Parroco del Rione Sanità.

A figure who in recent times has distinguished himself for his work in the city of Naples and for having, through the promotion of multiple initiatives, declined Planning as the ability to connect the environmental, architectural and historical values of urban sites and spaces, with the fallout on the level of building a sense of Community on which to base prospects of redemption for the Rione Sanità: a proposition interpreted, even at the national level, as a model of best practices for the valorization of the common good and which has also fueled a series of research and operational experimentation activities in collaboration with the Department of Architecture.

The valorization projects initiated by Antonio Loffredo in the Rione Sanità have turned into generative paths of development and social redemption, transforming monuments into active and propulsive elements in the daily life and present of their inhabitants, who have become conscious custodians of them, showing the capacity of places, architecture and urban spaces, as well as art, to support and promote relationships among people, to imprint quality to their daily life and to build community.

His work expresses an innovative and fertile vision of the use of the commons and public space, through practices that are sensitive, inclusive and come from below, thus showing that he understands the true meaning of planning and the civic and ethical role of Architecture, which condenses in the physical form of spaces culture, memory, human relations and prospects for development.

Introducing the ceremony will be speeches by Gaetano Manfredi, Rector of the University Federico II; Piero Salatino, President of the Polytechnic School and Basic Sciences University of Naples Federico II; and Michelangelo Russo, Director of the Department of Architecture University of Naples Federico II. This will be followed by the Laudatio Academica by Mario Losasso, professor of Architecture Technology University of Naples Federico II and the Lectio Magistralis Antonio Loffredo Parroco del Rione Sanità.
