The Frederick II in the World's Top 2% Scientists 2024
Stanford University's "World's Top 2% Scientists" again this yearincludes more than 300 researchers from the University of Frederick II.
The prestigious ranking, recently published, identifies the top 2% of the world's most cited and influential scientists in different disciplines.
In the 2024 ranking, 335 Frederick researchers are featured for 2023 research papers and 230 of the world's top scientists considered over their careers.
In the Stanford University study that analyzes the quantity, quality, and spread of publications, data are presented separately for the last year of work and for the entire career span. Hence two lists: the first focuses on citations recorded only in 2023, allowing it to highlight young researchers as well, while the second evaluates the overall career of scientists over the period 1996-2023.
It also compiles the Top 10 best researchers in Italy. In this one it reconfirms its presence, for his work on theoretical physics and cosmology, Professor Salvatore Capozziello, a Federiciano astrophysicist from the Department of Physics "Ettore Pancini."
In this year's Top 2% Scientists, Rector Matteo Lorito also features in the ranking regarding citations of research papers submitted in 2023.
The ranking selects the best scientists from among the nearly 11 million researchers at Universities and Research Centers around the world, divided into 22 areas and 174 subcategories, and extrapolates the best ones based on data from Stanford University's ICSR Laboratory, which uses Scopus data provided by Elsevier, which includes standardized information on citations, h-index and other bibliometric indicators.
The achievement of Frederick II researchers is a recognition of the excellence and scientific impact of publications in the academic community and highlights the quality and importance of Frederick research in the various departments involved.
In this year's edition of the World's Top 2% Scientists, as far as the University of Federico II is concerned, also interesting is the figure regarding the presence and positioning of women in the ranking: in the career ranking 13% are women and in the citation ranking for the year 2023 28% are women.
