Courses in Dietetics and Human Nutrition Sciences kick off
The official opening ceremony of the new academic year of the Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and the Master of Science in Human Nutrition will be held on Dec. 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Aula Magna of the Scampia teaching complex, in the presence of Matteo Lorito, Rector of the University of Frederick, and Giovanni Esposito, President of the School of Medicine and Surgery.
These courses of study play an important role in the educational offerings of the School of Medicine and Surgery as they provide the cultural basis for the training of multifaceted professionals who carry out a fundamental activity in the prevention and treatment of diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases and cancers that have a devastating impact on people's quality of life and have an epidemic spread in our country.
Students in these Degree Courses are offered advanced knowledge related to the influence of food on well-being and disease prevention, nutritional research methodologies in humans, technologies applied to food preparation, and food quality and safety. The results so far of the activities carried out to train these professionals are very satisfactory considering that more than 90% of the students graduate on time and 70% are employed 3 and 5 years after graduation.
The inauguration of the Courses will be followed by a Master's Lecture given by Professor Pasquale Strazzullo, whose contribution to the drafting and publication of the new Recommended Intake Levels of Energy and Nutrients (LARNs) was instrumental.
The talk will focus precisely on the importance and new features of the new LARNs.
Moderators of the event will be Roberto Berni Canani and Paolo Emidio Macchia, Coordinators of the Graduate Courses in Human Nutrition Sciences and in Dietetics.
