Agrochemical sciences
The Division carries out researches related to all relevant aspects of the soil-water-plant-atmosphere system. They can be referred to two main fields: agricultural chemistry and pedology. Specific research topics are the following:
- Chemical and biochemical processes for sustainable agriculture;
- Bioavailability of nutrients and pollutants;
- Biogeochemical processes controlling nutrient and pollutant mobility;
- Interaction between biotic and abiotic soil components;
- Soil fertility and fertilizers;
- Recycling agricultural biomasses;
- Pollutants monitoring and technologies for pollution reduction and rehabilitation;
- Carbon cycle and capture/storage and greenhouse gas emission;
- Quality and traceability of agrifood products;
- Chemistry of natural compounds;
- Pedology for land management;
- Spatial decision support systems and digital soil mapping;
- Soil forming processes and interaction between organic and mineral components;
- Soil mineralogy.
