Unframing Knowledge: Artistic Research Beyond Theory and Practice
On Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, Unframing Knowledge: Artistic Research Beyond Theory and Practice, an international conference dedicated to artistic research conceived and promoted by NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, the project leader, in collaboration with theAcademy of Fine Arts of Naples, opens at the MANN-National Archaeological Museum of Naples .
The conference brings together internationally renowned keynote speakers, experts in the field, artists, a PhD Forum and 34 selected speakers, who will present their work offering a broad overview of the vitality and plurality of contemporary artistic research. All contributions have been selected through a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring high academic standards and genuine interdisciplinary dialogue.
Unframing Knowledge aims to be a place of open meeting and discussion, aimed at promoting dialogue between institutions, scholars and artistic practices, while stimulating original forms of collaboration and shared reflection. Art, music, performance, design, cinema and new media will be the focus of meetings and panel discussions that will bring together in Naples Oct. 27-29, 2025, about 100 protagonists including artists, scholars, philosophers, musicians and filmmakers. Three days to explore how art can go beyond theory and practice, dialoguing with technology, the new frontiers of artificial intelligence, ecology and society.
Kicking off the opening at the MANN Auditorium with institutional greetings from Francesco Sirano, Director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, Rosita Marchese, President Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, Hon. Alessandra Gallone, Advisor to the Minister of University and Research, Antonio Felice Uricchio, Chairman of the Board of ANVUR, Andrea De Pasquale, General Directorate for Digitization and Communication MIC, Umberto De Paola, President of the National Conference of Directors of the Academies, Giuseppe Gaeta, Director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples; Guido Tattoni, Dean of NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti; and Elisa Poli, P+ARTS Scientific Officer and Senior Research Program Leader - NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.
The program of events, available at partsproject.eu, will be held at the auditorium of the MANN - National Archaeological Museum and the historic interiors of the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
The conference is the highlight of the two-year programming of P+ARTS - Partnership for Artistic Research in Technology and Sustainability, a project funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU through the PNRR - National Recovery and Resilience Plan. A network that unites ten Italian institutions and international partners with the aim of strengthening the role of Artistic Research as a tool for knowledge and innovation.
All events are open to the public, with free admission subject to availability. Reservations are recommended to participate.
