Sailing Team Frederick II at the 2025 edition of the 1001Vela Cup for the "Paul Padua" Trophy

Second place for UNINA Sailing Team, the Federican student association involved in the design and construction of sailboats, took part in the 2025 edition of the 1001Vela Cup, competing for the "Paolo Padova" Trophy.

Valerio Cosentino, a Naval Engineering student, and Carlo Dumontet, a Materials Engineering student, joined researcher Riccardo Pigazzini in the competition, which features crews composed of students and faculty from participating universities.

The three athletes distinguished themselves by winning all flights in the early stages of the day and losing only the final. "We are happy to have once again taken part in the competition that we had been missing for a few years and to have achieved this result," says President Giulia Correra, a Naval Engineering student, "It gives us hope and energy for the future, with projects in the pipeline that will have to take shape in order to return, next year, even more competitive."
