Research projects and European funding
Research projects and European funding
Approximately 26 million euros (16 million euros Unina - 10 million euros Orientale) have been used by the European Union to fund competitive research projects in the humanities area at the Universities Orientale and Federico II in recent years. Through the work of scientists and to the investments obtained for research, the international prestige of the two Neapolitan universities is continuously growing. The SH and ERC lines have consolidated the work of faculty and researchers in a modern and technologically advanced perspective and, above all, created new employment with about a hundred contracts including research grants, research fellowships, doctorates and post-doc contracts.
The study days "Projects of Europe in Italy" represent a moment of comparison precisely on the results obtained in recent years and on the newly funded projects. A unique opportunity at the national level to open a reflection on the lines of research in the humanities within the ERC and rooted in Italian universities; not just an informative meeting, but a scientific debate that starting from the present points the gaze towards the future of humanities research in Italy.
The meetings are a joint initiative of the Universities L'Orientale and University of Naples Federico II, promoted by professors Florinda De Simini, Associate Professor of History of India, and Maria Chiara Scappaticcio, Full Professor of Latin Language and Literature, both Principal Investigators of ERC Projects at their Universities.
The initiative will be held on Nov. 27 in the Complesso Monumentale Monteverginella in vico Santi Filippo e Giacomo 21a, from 9 a.m. ; on Nov. 28 in the Humanities Area Research Library (BRAU) in Piazza Bellini, 60, from 9:30 a.m.
The introductory speeches will be given by Fabio Fava, Advisor to the Minister for Research and Innovation in Europe (MUR), and Flavia Cumuli, Head of the 'Humanities' Area of the ERC-Executive Agency (ERCEA). The respective days, in Orientale and Federico II, will be opened by the Rectors of the two universities, Roberto Tottoli and Matteo Lorito, and their research delegates, C. Maria Laudando and Lorenzo Marrucci, as well as by greetings from Gala Maria Follaco (Vice-Director of the Department of Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean, UniOr) and Andrea Mazzucchi (Director of the Department of Humanities, UniNa) and Nicola Madonna (Director of the Humanities Area Research Library).
Speakers will be Principal Investigators of ERC projects in the SH5 and SH6 fields and will take turns in scientific tables moderated by internationally renowned scholars; the two planned technical tables chaired by local and national administrative personalities will touch on crucial aspects such as administrative management and the impact of Digital Humanities in the articulation of project research.
