STORY IN PROGRESS, the workshop to form new literary identities, gets underway

Una

An innovative project for the formation of new literary identities, which explores the creative process and transforms each story from a work in progress into material for possible publication. This is the STORY IN PROGRESS workshop, organized by the University of Naples Federico II and the La Bottega delle Parole Association, as part of the activities of F2 Cultura.

Conceived by Enrico Manzo, award-winning screenwriter and playwright (Fringe Festival Prize, Fersen Prize, Best Fashion Film Italia 2021), and Lorenzo Ruggiero, internationally renowned comic book artist for Marvel and DC, curators of the workshop, the project guides participants in the creation of original stories starting from artistic, literary, cinematic and comic book inspirations.

Through exercises and observations, participants will learn how to transform paintings and illustrations into narratives, revisit literary classics with a modern twist, analyze film scenes to build tension and dialogue, and create stories from comic book vignettes or strips. The project encourages creative connections between different art forms, such as combining music and painting or literature and film, to generate original ideas and stimulate creativity.

STORY in PROGRESS includes hands-on sessions where participants can write stories and share their work and receive constructive feedback.

Developing awareness of one's sources of inspiration, improving writing techniques and creating a publication of original texts are the goals. Aimed at aspiring writers, arts and culture enthusiasts, students and curious people of all levels, the project is an engaging and hands-on course for those who want to explore writing in an innovative way.

Led by two professionals: Enrico Manzo, author of the international commercials for the fashion house Roger Vivier starring the likes of Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon and Christina Ricci, screenwriter for the cult Italian comic Dylan Dog; together with Lorenzo Ruggiero, illustrator of icons such as Batman, Spider-Man and X-Men, STORY in PROGRESS is a unique opportunity to grow artistically and turn inspirations into stories for the general public.

The workshop, from November 2025 to April 2026, will be conducted in Italian and will be open to students, faculty and administrative technical staff of the University of Naples Federico II, for a maximum number of 25 participants.

Only applications received no later than midnight on September 30, 2025 will be considered.
