At the Bellini Theater in Naples, from Sept. 26 to Oct. 12, 2025, Morte accidentale di un anarchico by Dario Fo and Franca Rame, directed by Antonio Latella with Daniele Russo, Caterina Carpio, Francesco Manetti, Edoardo Sorgente, Emanuele Turetta will be on stage.

In 1921 an Italian emigrant "flew" out of a window of the New York police building: this is the episode that inspired "Accidental Death of an Anarchist," one of Dario Fo's most famous comedies. The action begins in a police station, where Commissioner Bertozzo is confronted by a madman, capable of passing himself off as more than one person, the driving force and thread of the entire story. "The accidental death" to which the title of the work alludes is that of the anarchist Giuseppe Pinelli, who fell from a fourth-floor window of the Milan police headquarters in 1969, in one of the most controversial episodes in postwar Italian history; from the Piazza Fontana massacre, for which Pinelli was under investigation, to some of the terrible events that followed, Dario Fo interrogates with his work not only the specific court case, but part of a historical period that is still difficult to decipher and consign to the archives.
