Mourning in the Athenaeum. Professor Paolo Picone has passed away.

Professor Paolo Picone, born in 1940, for many years a full professor of international law at the University of Frederick, passed away. He was Emeritus of International Law at the University of Rome "La Sapienza."

Amember ofthe Accademia dei Lincei and a member of the "Institut de droit International," Picone was a scholar of great international prestige, with exceptional scientific qualities, demonstrated, for almost sixty years, both in the field of public international law and in that of private international law.

A leading exponent of the Neapolitan School of International Law, of him we would like to recall, at this sad moment, the indelible imprint he left on so many scholars trained at the Federico II and working here and in other universities, and research institutions, both Italian and foreign.
