Honorary Master's Degree in Law to Gerhard Dilcher

OnWednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at 11 a.m., in the Aula Magna Storica of theUniversity of Naples Federico II, Corso Umberto I,a ceremony will be held to award an Honorary Master's Degree in Law to Gerhard Dilcher, Professor Emeritus of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main, enumerated among Europe's most distinguished jurists.

Federico II Rector Gaetano Manfredi, Andrea Mazzucchi, vice president of the University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Lucio De Giovanni, director of the Federico II Department of Law, will introduce the ceremony. Gerhard Dilcher Aurelio Cernigliaro, President of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will deliver the Laudatio Academica . This will be followed by Dilcher 's Lectio Magistralis on"Medieval European Legal Culture as a Result of Migration and Integration."

German jurist Gerhard Dilcher, class of '32, is a fine scholar of topics ranging from communal civilization in the Middle Ages to the thought of Otto von Gierke, always of considerable impact in European legal-historical culture and beyond.
