Honorary Degree in Dentistry to Professor Ambrosina Michelotti

"This award is very much in recognition of the research collaboration over several years and all the work that you have done within the profession." With this motivation, Professor Ambrosina Michelotti, professor of Clinical Gnathology and Orthognathodontics at the Department of Neuroscience, Reproductive and Odontostomatological Sciences at the University of Frederick, received an honorary degree in Dentistry from the University ofMalmÖ in Sweden.

A high honor that was awarded to her during theAnnual Graduation Ceremony of the prestigious Swedish University on October 19, 2018.

Professor Michelotti has authored more than 120 publications in the most prestigious journals under strict editorial control and is the author of 10 book chapters published by leading international publishers. She has served as President of the European Academy of Craniomandibular Disorders (2010), President of the Neuroscience group of IADR (2011); President of SIDA (Italian Society of Temporomandibular Dysfunctions and Algias; 2012-2013); President of the RDC/TMD Consortium at the International Association of Dental Research (2013-2014).

He is Editor of the Orthodontic and Craniofacial Research Journal, the most prestigious journal in the field, Associate Editor of the European Journal of Oral Science, Associate Editor of the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Orthodontics and referee of numerous national and international scientific journals.

Visiting professor at the University of Malmo in Sweden, Aarhus in Denmark and Rijeka in Croatia.

His main research topics include the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain, the relationships between orthognathodontics and the pathophysiology of the masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joint, and the problems of dental-related sleep disorders. He participates in international study groups within the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) and the International Association of Study of Pain (IASP).

At the Federico II University, he has been Coordinator of the Master's Program in Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain for more than 15 years and Coordinator of the School of Specialization in Orthodontics.
