Ciro Esposito, full professor of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Frederick and Director of the UOC of Pediatric Surgery at the Federico II University Hospital, has been awarded an honorary doctorate at the University of Athens for his impetus in the development of pediatric laparoscopic and robotic surgery in Europe over the past 30 years.

The Chancellor of the University of Athens Theodosis Pelegrinis presented Professor Esposito with the prestigious award in front of the Academic Senate in the beautiful setting of the Great Hall of the University of Athens, built in 1837.

"I dedicate this award to my father, who was a great pediatric surgeon and my mentor, and to all the children we treat every day, with the promise of using minimally invasive techniques and new technologies to heal them of the diseases from which they are suffering with increasing precision and, above all, without suffering," said Professor Esposito.

Ciro Esposito, an academic of the French Society of Surgery in Paris, was, in addition, recently honored by the Naples Convention Bureau as an ambassador of Naples to the world for his work as a lecturer at the international level at IRCAD in Strasbourg.
