The XXXIX edition Remote Future - A Journey Between Science and Science Fiction
The XXXIX edition Remote Future - A Journey Between Science and Science Fiction
The XXXIX edition Futuro Remoto - Un Viaggio tra Scienza e Fantascienza, the Italian event for the dissemination of scientific and technological culture promoted by Città della Scienza, will be held from October 2025 to February 2026 and marks a return to the visionary spirit of its origins, when in 1987 a name was coined that was able to unite the imagination of tomorrow with the deep roots of research.
The initiative aims to be a grand collective exercise in exploration, inviting participants to question what futures are desirable and how today's choices can shape tomorrow's world. In an era marked by epochal transformations, the event stands as a compass to navigate the complexity of the contemporary, reinforcing the role of Science City as a reference point for innovation, education and dialogue between science and society.
Futuro Remoto 2025 is an event realized by Città della Scienza co-organized with the seven universities of Campania, in collaboration with the Campania Region and leading national research centers.
At the core of the program of activities are the key values that guide the mission of Città della Scienza, principles that are declined in three major thematic areas, which will serve as a common thread throughout the event:
Sustainable Development: to explore innovative solutions capable of meeting the needs of the present without compromising the resources of future generations.
One Health: a holistic, interdisciplinary approach that recognizes the interconnectedness between the health of people, animals and ecosystems.
Digital Transition: an in-depth look at the opportunities and challenges of the digital world, with a focus on inclusion, accessibility, and promoting critical thinking in the information age.
Aiming to engage a wide and diverse audience, Futuro Remoto 2025 will offer a dynamic and multidisciplinary palimpsest. Visitors will be able to participate in lecture-shows with big names in science and culture, meetings to explore topical issues, and innovative citizen science actions to become protagonists of research. The beating heart of the event will be the interactive laboratories and Future Labs, experiential paths designed to "train the imagination" and acquire practical tools to direct daily actions toward a more conscious future.
Futuro Remoto has always dedicated special attention to young people, students and the world of education. The 2025 edition reinforces this commitment, presenting itself as an extraordinary educational platform. The goal is to inspire new generations, providing them with the cultural and critical tools to understand the complexity of the world and become active and aware citizens.
The Futuro Remoto 2025 calendar opens with a series of events exploring the key themes of the edition.
