Federican Virginia Venezia honored with Eni Award as young researcher of the year

Federician Virginia Venezia honored with the Eni Award as Young Researcher of the Year. A graduate in Chemical Engineering, Ph.D. in Industrial Products and Processes Engineering at the Department of Chemical, Materials and Industrial Production Engineering at the Federico II University, she was awarded the prestigious "Young Researchers of the Year" Eni Award.

The award is given by the Jury of the Prize to two young researchers who have distinguished themselves for research activities conducted within PhD programs in Italian universities on energy and environmental issues, with the aim of promoting a zero-carbon future, decarbonizing the energy system, preserving natural capital and promoting efficient and sustainable access to energy, according to the SDGs.

Virginia Venezia received the award, after a highly selective process, for research conducted on the development of multifunctional hybrid materials from the valorization of waste biomass.

Nobel laureates on the jury, possible Nobel laureates of the future among awardees. Scientific discoveries of great impact for the energy industry and recognition by the President of the Republic. From its first edition in 2008 to today, Eni Award has become a landmark in the field of innovation and scientific research around the world.

On October 8, 2025 at 11 a.m., the Awards Ceremony will take place at the Quirinale in the presence of the President of the Republic.
