The Frederick II among the promoting partners of IBNO
The Frederick II among the promoting partners of IBNO
The advent of digital transformation and cognitive processes is causing a metamorphosis of business, management and research at an unprecedented pace. In an increasingly globalized and interconnected environment, there is an increasing need to make interactions and activities, involving a growing multiplicity of market players, fast, accessible in real time, automated and flexible.
In this scenario, blockchain emerges as a technological solution that proposes an innovative way of interpreting the topic related to the Internet of transactions, sharing and value.
There is a fervent debate among scholars and practitioners in the field with respect to the real disruptive scope of Distributed Ledgers Technologies (DTL) and the actual applications even beyond strictly monetary uses.
The Observatory's interest, in fact, is mainly aimed at defining the real impacts that blockchain will be able to produce on society and institutions at different levels, and at intercepting the challenges that businesses and other market players face with respect to the expected and future potential.
In Italy, there is a lack, however, of an overall vision, capable of presenting an updated and organic snapshot of the phenomenon, with particular reference to the complex and fragmented reality.
On the basis of these premises, theObservatory carries out a field analysis of Italian companies, users and providers of technology, operating in a multiplicity of fields and sectors of activity, from finance to agribusiness, from services to public administration. The survey occupied the working group for a period of about a year and a half and enabled the drafting of an initial report outlining the level of blockchain experimentation in the Italian territory and possible scenarios.
The report returns an analysis of the state of the art of blockchain technology in Italy without, however, neglecting the impacts of a more strictly operational nature, mapping use cases used as an elective context for the analysis and understanding of a complex phenomenon.
IBNO aims to promote knowledge transfer in management and business, with reports, scientific articles and courses, creating a shared platform capable of connecting knowledge and experience at different levels (such as researchers, companies, institutions). Of particular interest is the identification of best practices and innovative business models enabled by the introduction of blockchain.
Dialogue between the university system and the business world can incentivize knowledge exchange and sharing, stimulate innovation, and create long-term collaborations and opportunities for updating and operationalizing new knowledge underlying the development of today's economic and social ecosystems.
IBNO is designed as an open and collaborative model, which will also include the involvement of other universities and established entities in the national and international territory. Thanks to collaborations with the Swiss Blockchain Consortium and the University of Cambridge, the Observatory is able to offer continuously updated cognitive support to companies, professionals and experts in the field, for a broader analysis of opportunities and further application developments related to blockchain.
The working group is composed of Cristina Mele (Full Professor of Business Economics and Management and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Management), Tiziana Russo Spena (Associate Professor of Business Economics and Management and member of the board of directors of the University of Naples Federico II Center for Innovation and Development of the Agribusiness Industry), Francesco Bifulco (Full Professor of Economics and Business Management), by Pietro Azzara (President of the trade association Italia4Blockchain), Michele Ficara Manganelli (Founder and director of the Swiss Blockchain Consortium and director of Assodigitale), Luigi Di Benedetto (Director of Cryptodiamond S.r.l and national and regional board member of Italia4Blockchain), Adriana Carotenuto (Ph.D. student in Management and researcher in collaboration with the University of Cambridge), Erica Del Vacchio (Ph.D. student in Management and researcher in collaboration with the University Norwegian School of Economics).
The Observatory and the project will be presented on November 10, 2020 in digital edition at the Blockchain Forum, the Italian trade fair dedicated entirely to the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
