Federico II University Focuses on English, Technology, and Health

Three new bachelor’s degree programs will be offered in the 2026–2027 academic year, including veterinary medicine, engineering, and midwifery

Federico II University is expanding its academic offerings by focusing on three strategic areas: internationalization, technological innovation, and health. For the 2026–2027 academic year, three new degree programs will be introduced: Veterinary Medicine, a single-cycle master’s program taught entirely in English; Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, an international bachelor’s degree program, also taught entirely in English, focused on the fields of information engineering and emerging technologies; and Nursing and Midwifery Sciences – Midwifery Track, a master’s degree program designed to provide advanced training for professionals in maternal and child health.

The new Veterinary Medicine program, taught entirely in English, was created to meet the growing demand for highly specialized professionals in the fields of animal health, food safety, biomedical research, and environmental protection.

The program represents a further step in the internationalization process of the University and the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production, offering an educational environment open to both Italian and international students. The presence of an international community will foster the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives, preparing future veterinarians to work in an increasingly global professional context.

The program lasts five years and combines theoretical instruction, laboratory work, and clinical practice, providing comprehensive training in the main areas of veterinary medicine. Admission is open to 20 students, including both European Union citizens and non-EU candidates. Applicants must hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) and demonstrate English proficiency at least at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Classes will be held at the new Frullone campus, located at Via Marco Rocco di Torre Padula 35, in Naples. The procedures and deadlines for applying will be outlined in the admission announcement available on the Universitaly portal.

In the realm of technological innovation, the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (EEIT) program is being launched— an international three-year bachelor’s degree taught in English that trains professionals capable of working across electronics, digital systems, telecommunications, automation, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering.

The program, offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DIETI), provides a multidisciplinary education designed to meet the needs of a constantly evolving job market. The program combines a solid methodological foundation with problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to enter the most innovative sectors of industry.

Topics covered include electronics and digital systems, telecommunications, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and data science, biomedical engineering, and electrical engineering.

Graduates will find career opportunities in technology companies, the manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive industries, firms involved in the energy transition, as well as in the telecommunications, robotics, and automated systems sectors. The program is open to Italian, European, and non-European students. As with all engineering programs, an orientation and self-assessment test—developed by the CISIA Interuniversity Consortium—is required but not selective.

Rounding out the new academic offerings is the master’s program in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences—Midwifery Track, dedicated to developing advanced skills in managing care pathways focused on women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and newborn care.

The two-year program, totaling 120 CFU and with locally regulated enrollment, is designed to train professionals capable of assuming roles of greater responsibility within healthcare services, equipped with clinical, care-related, organizational, educational, and research skills.

The program combines theoretical lectures, professional workshops, clinical simulations, project work, and internships at hospitals and community health facilities, with a particular focus on the quality and safety of care, continuity of care between hospitals and the community, and innovation in organizational models for maternal and child health.

Graduates will be able to work in obstetric and maternal-child health services, in the management and coordination of care activities, in university and professional education, in health planning, and in clinical and organizational research. This program thus prepares students for an increasingly strategic role for midwives within complex healthcare systems, emphasizing advanced skills, managerial abilities, and a multidisciplinary approach.
