Frederick II Athenaeum settles in Bacoli.
'The Athenaeum in Bacoli': the Frederick II takes up residence at Villa Ferretti by inaugurating its new Center for Higher Education on Digital Humanities. The date is Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11 a.m.
The ceremony will be opened by Matteo Lorito, Rector of the Federico University; Gaetano Manfredi, Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Naples; Fabio Pagano, Director of the Campi Flegrei Archaeological Park; and Josi Gerardo della Ragione, Mayor of Bacoli.
This will be followed by speeches by Gennaro Ferrante, Andrea Mazzucchi, Carmela Capaldi and Marco Pacciarelli, professors from the Department of Humanities at the University of Frederick.
Villa Ferretti, the 19th-century mansion at the foot of Baia Castle, an asset taken from organized crime, is the new Center for Higher Education at Federico II. And it will be for at least the next 20 years under an agreement signed last June by Rector Matteo Lorito and Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, mayor of the municipality where the Villa is located.
The fascinating and functional spaces of the splendid residence overlooking the sea will host projects with a very strong interdisciplinary vocation, starting with the enhancement of the ecosystem of the digital humanist. The repercussions of the digital transition process will invest the different spheres of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, from linguistic, philological and literary research to those of historical-artistic and archaeological methodologies.
