IX National Scientific Conference "Down Syndrome: from Research to Therapy"
Bringing the most advanced scientific research into dialogue with the concrete needs of people with Down syndrome and their families. This is the goal of "Down Syndrome: from Research to Therapy" and the focus chosen for the 9th National Scientific Conference on Down Syndrome, to be held Oct. 17-19, 2025, in Naples, Italy, at the Aula Magna of the School of Medicine of the Federico II University. The event is promoted by the Italian DS Task Force with the support of the associations AIPD and CoorDown, and is attended by researchers, physicians, experts, associations, family members and people with Down syndrome from all over Italy. More than 250 people are expected to register. A unique opportunity that unites, informs and raises awareness to ensure an increasingly high quality of life for people with Down syndrome and give an account of scientific news in clear and direct language.
The proceedings will open on Friday afternoon, October 17, and will consist of three intense days with scientific sessions, panel discussions, direct testimonies and moments of confrontation. Topics will include genetics, neurobiology, new drug and nutraceutical therapies, lifestyles, prevention, aging, Alzheimer's, autonomy and inclusion.
On Saturday, October 18, there will also be a session devoted to international research, with a report on immune alterations by Professor Joaquin Espinosa, a renowned expert from the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, University of Colorado, USA.
On Sunday, October 19, the conference will conclude with two popular round tables: the first on the life project with the participation of representatives of national associations; the second dedicated to "Scientific Research and Autonomy," with life testimonies and presentations on artificial intelligence as a tool for inclusion.
The conference is free for all participants, thanks to the support of academic institutions and contributions from public and private entities. It is organized by the Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology of the Federico II University.
