International Day on One Health

On October 21, 2025 at the Chinese Room of the Department of Agriculture in Portici, an international day will be held on the theme One Health, organized as part of the transnational project "Health Technology: from capacity building to capacity strengthening (Afya Moja)."

The Afya Moja project, which has been admitted for funding under D.D. prot. no. 167 of Oct. 3, 2023, intended for transnational educational initiatives - TNE, involves 5 Italian universities: Campus Biomedico of Rome (Lead Partner, project coordinator Prof. Leandro Pecchia), University of Naples Federico II (Prof. Bianca Gasparrini, Prof. Giuseppe De Rosa, Prof. Michele Santangelo, Prof. Francesco Miano and Prof. Antonio Gloria), Alma mater University of Bologna (Prof. Stefano Severi), University of Pisa (Prof. Carmelo De Maria), Politecnico di Bari (Prof. Vito Antonio Bevilacqua) and twenty-seven African universities. The goal of the project is tostrengthen the capacity of African universities in the field of One Health technologies (integration of human, animal and environmental health) by promoting training, research, academic exchanges and inclusion in the drafting of international guidelines, standards and policies.

Participating in the event will be the Consul of the Republic of Benin in Naples, Giuseppe Gambardella, the Rector of the Federico II , Matteo Lorito, and institutional representatives of the other Departments and Schools involved at the University of Federico II (Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production, Polytechnic School and Basic Sciences, School of Human and Social Sciences, and School of Medicine and Surgery), as well as the Rectors of the three consortium universities of the Republic of Benin (University of Abomey Calavì, National University of Agriculture, and National University of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and 16 high-profile Beninese faculty members, including the Directors of several Schools.
