Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Water Management
There is also the Federico II among the leading Italian universities that have trained a new generation of experts in sustainable water management, with a specific focus on the challenges of the African continent. Thus was born theExecutive Blended Intensive Program (EBIP) entitled"Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Water Management."
In addition to the University of Frederick, the project is the result of collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano, theUniversity of Padua, the Sapienza University of Rome, theUniversity of Florence and theAlma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna.
The program is aimed at 25 young researchers, PhD students and academic professionals from African backgrounds interested in developing advanced skills in water resources management and environmental sustainability.
The EBIP will consist of a blended track: an online learning phase and an in-person session that will take place in Tunis, Tunisia, between October and December 2025. Selected participants will receive a scholarship worth €3,000, covering travel, accommodation and living expenses.
The initiative aims to strengthen understanding of environmental and climate challenges in African countries, provide state-of-the-art tools and methodologies for research and teaching, and promote academic cooperation between African and Italian institutions through mobility and joint research projects.
During the in-presence phase in Tunis, participants will take part in laboratories, workshops, field visits and receive mentorship from Italian and African experts.
The EBIP represents a concrete example of collaboration between the Italian university system and African countries, with the goal of strengthening water resilience, promoting sustainability and creating new networks of international cooperation.
