National Day for Safe Care, the initiatives of the Federico II University Hospital Company
The Federico II University Hospital, on September 17, 2025, celebrates the seventh World Patient Safety Day, established by the World Health Organization (WHO), supported by the Ministry of Health and aimed at promoting global awareness on the issue of safe care.
Among the initiatives promoted, a vaccination session dedicated to pregnant women and children will be provided. The initiative, which will involve healthcare personnel, students and citizens, will take place at the Maternal and Childhood Department of the AOU Federico II, with free admission subject to availability, from 3 to 5 p.m. Building 9, the Department's headquarters, will be symbolically illuminated in orange to call attention to the right to safety of patients, caregivers and care.
Vaccine counseling has also been scheduled during the Day for those accompanying users who will join the event.
"It will be possible to vaccinate pregnant women and children, as part of a health pathway that ensures safe care from birth," says Elvira Bianco, General Director of the AOU Federico II. The event reflects the Company's commitment to ensuring the quality of care from the earliest stages of life, with special attention to the vulnerable population, and in particular pregnant women and children.
"Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child" is the theme chosen this year. Under the slogan "Patient safety from the start!" the World Health Organization is calling for urgent action to eliminate preventable harm in pediatric and newborn care. Addressing this challenge requires efforts in key areas of patient safety, such as safe delivery and postnatal care, drug safety, diagnostic safety, immunization safety, infection prevention, and early recognition of clinical deterioration.
