GENIALITY - Science Communication Lab

A workshop course to develop soft skills in science communication. It's GENIality, the Science Communication Lab sponsored by the Department of Biology in collaboration with AIRC, as part of the F2Cultura program, aimed at three-year, master's and doctoral students from all Frederick's departments.

Now in its fifth year, the GENIality Lab offers a unique educational experience to learn how to communicate science effectively, creatively and responsibly. Through hands-on activities, teamwork and the creation of videos on cancer prevention, students will develop key skills in outreach, science storytelling and digital communication.

The course will run from October 29, 2025 to January 15, 2026, in-person and online on Microsoft Teams. Registration by Oct. 29, 2025 by filling out the form.

The workshop is led by Professors Barbara Majello and Susanna Ambrosio, with the collaboration of Giovanni Di Fusco and Martina Cardone, Giada Faragò for AIRC and Gianluca Dotti, science journalist. The AIRCampus program is coordinated by Elisa Mosconi and is part of the University's F2Cultura activities.

Participating in the workshop allows you to acquire and enhance skills such as designing and creating popular content for a general audience; communicating science through social media; using effective verbal and visual languages; and developing creativity, problem solving and resourcefulness.

Participation in all meetings and in the final project entitles the student to the issuance of the Open Badge digital certification and, upon authorization of the CoS or PhD Coordinators, to the recognition of CFUs.

During the training, through group work with the help of tutors and the valuable advice of faculty members, popular videos on cancer prevention will be made. The videos will be screened at the Closing Ceremony and the best projects will be posted on AIRC social channels.
