Signing of the convention between the Federico II and the NGO "CUAMM- Doctors for Africa"
Scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. in the conference room on the second floor of Building 9 at AOU Federico II is the official signing of the agreement between the University and the NGO "CUAMM- Doctors for Africa."
The Founder and Director of CUAMM, Father Dante Carraro, a doctor-priest, the Director of the Department of Neuroscience and Reproductive Sciences at Federico II, Ciro Costagliola and the Delegate for International Activities of the University, Gilberto Sammartino, will be present.
The project concerns an exchange of professionalism between the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery directed by Professor Maurizio Guida and the multiple facilities deployed in Africa by CUAMM.
Doctors with Africa Cuamm allows residents to carry out up to a year of specialization in Africa to deepen the theoretical-practical skills and abilities related to their subject, also with a view to possible future employment in international health cooperation.
Since the project's inception in 2002, there have been 457 young residents (109 men and 348 women) sent so far to do their internship in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Central African Republic, for a period of 6 to 12 months in the field, accompanied by a Doctors with Africa Cuamm mentor.
The initiative is aimed not only at professional enrichment but also human enrichment for Italian students, who will have the opportunity to approach emergency and care situations of particular educational impact, while at the same time developing awareness of the many ethical and social aspects of international health care.
