F2 Radio Lab: a new season all about listening
The broadcasts of F2 Radio Lab, the University's official web radio station, begin again on Monday, September 15, 2025. Lots of news, entertainment and music by Federiciani students from all degree programs who during their studies acquire the broadest professional skills to become speakers, directors radio programmers and editors.
Thus begins an important year for F2 Radio Lab, which in 2026 celebrates 20 years since its first broadcast and will host the FRU-Festival of University Radio from June 4 to 7 at the Complex of Saints Marcellinus and Festus.
The new season of Ateneo Lab radio has, as every year, a schedule structured on historical and established formats that have received numerous awards and many new programs.
It begins live from 10:30 a.m. with "Bonsai," a concentrate of news, a window on the world to understand issues, trends, the complex panorama of current affairs, telling and understanding the most relevant news from the climate emergency to new developments in Artificial Intelligence, from geopolitical changes to a constant update on the most important cultural and social events.
Immediately afterwards, it continues with the "Workshow," F2 Radio Lab's historic program, a two-hour daily in-depth coverage of many cultural, scientific topics, told through the right balance of entertainment and professionalism. And as always, within the "Workshow," at 12 p.m., there will be "F2 Uninews," the radio news program that updates on all University events, with news on calls, opportunities and master's degrees.
F2 Radio Lab's rich and composite schedule continues with the formats that have always, since the first broadcast in 2006, characterized its editorial lineup. Programs that have repeatedly won awards at the FRU-Festival of University Radios, and that stand out for their originality, quality of conception, design and realization exclusively by Frederican students through the professionalism acquired during their training.
Among the formats, "What I'll do when I grow up" is back, a regular appointment on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Now in its sixth season, the program in collaboration with the guidance service helps to discover the wide range of educational offerings at Federico II thanks to the testimonies and stories of those who with study and passion have realized their dreams.
Not to be missed, on Tuesdays, from 1 p.m., "Libra - The Sustainable Lightness of Reading," dedicated to publishing releases and the history of literature through interviews with authors from the contemporary literary scene.
On Wednesdays, from 9:30 a.m., an additional space dedicated to news with "E a colazione informazione," a press review program devoted to all the news from around the world to decipher the rhythm of contemporaneity from international politics to news, to culture, society and sports: an in-depth reading of daily newspapers to have clarity and completeness on all the issues of close relevance starting the day with awareness.
Space, every Monday from 1 p.m., for sports with "Bananas Sporting Club," the window on the sports world, from soccer to tennis to basketball, with many stories and testimonials from students participating in the "Federiciano Athlete" program.
Also back is "Guess Who's Coming to F2. ..," a format of impossible interviews with historical figures who tell their stories to Federiciano students. Distinguished guests will be Messalina, Victo Hugo, Sigmund Freud, Shakespeare, Francis Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre, Marilyn Monroe, and many others.
Also wide-ranging are F2 Radio Radio Lab podcasts such as "Don't Accept Cookies from Strangers," a program on digital security and navigating the dangers one can run into when receiving suspicious emails, we may come across suspicious sites, and how to protect one's sensitive data. "It's Never Too Boomer," pills of on the changing language, which has become in recent years a guide to navigate the origin, etymologies and metamorphosis of words in the digital age.
Also back is "Galaxy Express. The cosmos one star at a time, " a journey into the secrets of the universe dedicated to the discovery of the solar system, about the birth of galaxies and all that is hidden among the stars. An interplanetary journey with student-speakers led by Giovanni Covone, professor of Astrophysics, Cosmology and Space Science.
Another podcast, full of exciting stories, is "I'll introduce you to Frederick," the story of the Athenaeum from its founding in 1224, to the profiles of illustrious Fredericans, passing through the historical sites and places of great importance including the Royal Mineralogical Museum and the Reggia di Portici, arriving at the Academy and the Scampia and San Giovanni sites that project Frederick II into the future.
