Enrico Letta opens academic year in political science

On Oct. 6, 2025 at 11 a.m., in the Church of Saints Marcellinus and Festus, President Enrico Letta will deliver the inaugural Lectio Magistralis of the 2025/2026 academic year at the Department of Political Science, University of Naples Federico II, entitled "For an Autonomous and Sovereign Europe."

The ceremony will be opened by institutional greetings from Federico II Chancellor Matteo Lorito and Department of Political Science Director Paola De Vivo, which will be followed by an introductory speech by Professor Massimo Adinolfi.

In 2023-2024 Enrico Letta was commissioned by the EU Commission and Council to prepare the official Report on the Future of the European Single Market, entitled "Much more than a market. Speed, Security, Solidarity," which will be presented to the Council and the European Parliament.

The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of the European Union between global competitiveness, strategic autonomy, green transition and strengthening civil rights.
