Delegation from the University of Iceland visiting the Federico II
A meeting was held in Naples between delegations from the University of Naples Federico II and the School of Education - University of Iceland (UICE), members of the Aurora Alliance, with the aim of consolidating institutional dialogue and defining new prospects for collaboration in the field of teaching and research.
The meeting, held at the Raffaele d'Ambrosio Interdepartmental Research Center - LUPT, was a significant moment to strengthen academic relations between the two universities.
Bringing the institutional greetings were the delegates of the Rector of the Federico II, Valeria Costantino, Erasmus Delegate, and Francesco Palumbo, Delegate for Teaching, together with Marina Albanese, Director of the LUPT Center, who introduced the activities of the Center and Alessandro Arienzo, Institutional Coordinator of our Ateneo for the Aurora Alliance, who introduced the work of the two-day event and the objectives of this high-level meeting.
During the first day, the delegations shared an overview of their respective university systems, the main research areas in pedagogy and education, opportunities for interdepartmental cooperation, and the management structure of the institutions, highlighting similarities and differences.
During the thematic session, representatives of Frederick's centers and facilities including the SINAPSI Center, whose representatives were Professor Giovanna Esposito and Professor Stefano Oliverio, the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA), presented by Anna Baldan, EURIDICE, a European project that gave birth to The European Joint Master's in Digital Society, Social Innovation and Global Citizenship (DIGISOC) course, presented by Emiliano Grimaldi and Team Aurora. Professor Alessandro Ciasullo presented the main research and development activities in the field of education taking place at the university. The day ended with small group workshop activities between delegates from the two universities with the aim of designing common activities.
The second day was held at the San Giovanni a Teduccio Campus, where the Icelandic delegation visited classrooms and innovation labs of the Federico II, including the DigiSoC Joint Master's Program illustrated by Professor Emiliano Grimaldi, then the PharmaTech Academy, presented by Bruno Catalanotti, the Apple Developer Academy and the DIGITA Academy by Pietro Nunziante were presented. All of these initiatives are examples of excellence in technological, entrepreneurial and digital education.
The meeting concluded with a shared desire to strengthen academic and project cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the fields of digital education, innovative pedagogy and sustainable development.
A new meeting in Iceland is already planned before summer 2026 to continue the path of cooperation within the Aurora network.
