CUG Federico II, information and awareness campaign to combat gender-based violence
The CUG, Single Guarantee Committee and the Rector's Trusted Adviser on Stalking and Harassment of the University Federico II, announce the launch of the information and awareness campaign to combat gender-based violence in all its forms provided for in Action No. 25 of the Gender Equality Plan 2025-27.
To this end, informative posters will be put up communicating how in cases of bullying, harassment and stalking you are not alone. In fact, in the Athenaeum there is a service for support, reporting and prevention of gender-based violence that can be accessed by writing to sportelloascolto@unina.it. The peculiarity of the initiative consists in having wanted to use the space of the Athenaeum bathrooms as a place where to convey information.
Says Antonella Liccardo president of the CUG: "I was inspired by the University of Warwick in the UK where I had seen a similar initiative that had met with great success among male and female students, and I thought we could do the same thing in Italy. So with the CUG representatives and the committee dedicated to the listening desk, we decided to put up small posters, "stamps for respect and well-being" memes in the bathroom spaces.
Professor Caterina Arcidiacono, coordinator of the listening desk adds : "I am convinced of the validity of the initiative because although there is information on the University's websites about the functioning of support services for the university community, it is not easy to make people perceive how the University cares about the well-being of students, students, faculty and administrative staff." The initiative will start on a trial basis in 500 of the University's 3,000 bathrooms at the beginning of October. The general management and technical offices are supporting the initiative.
