The Federico II among the best universities in the world and 3rd among Italian universities in the Shanghai ARWU ranking.
The University of Naples Federico II is, in fact, among the elite of Italian universities worldwide according to theARWU - Academic Rankingof World Universities, the international ranking carried out by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy 2024 published as usual on August 15. The ARWU ranking reports the best 1,000 universities in the world out of the 2,500 it surveys. This year's ranking includes 42 Italian universities.
Federico II is among the top 300 in the world (in the 201-300 range) and 3rd in Italy tied with the University of Turin, the University of Bologna, the University of Padua and the Politecnico di Milano.
In the Shanghai 2024Subject Ranking, Subject Ranking , Federico II ranks highly nationally and globally. It is 35th in Aerospace Engineering (and 4th in Italy), 40th in Agricultural Sciences (and 2nd in Italy), 47th in Veterinary Sciences (and 5th in Italy), is in the 51-75 range in Civil Engineering (1st in Italy ex equo) and in Food Science & Technology (and 1st in Italy ex equo), is in the range 76-100 in Physics (4th in Italy exequo), in Water Resources (2nd in Italy ex equo), in Mining & Mineral Engineering where it is first and only in Italy and in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences(3rd in Italy).
Excellent positions also for Transportation Science & Technology, in which it is first and unique in Italy, and for Biotechnology and Energy Science & Engineering(both 1st in Italy ex equo) all in the 101-150 range.
In addition,the University of Frederick is second in Italy ex equo in Biological Sciences and Chemical Engineering, both in the 201-300 worldwide range.
Thereare six evaluation indicators: the Nobel Prizes and Fields medals of former students (10 percent) or researchers at the individual university (20 percent), the number of researchers most cited according to Clarivate Analytics (20 percent), publications in "Nature & Science" (20 percent), and citations of technological-social publications (20 percent). These parameters are then correlated with the performance of academics, giving an additional parameter of productivity per capita (10%).
The Shanghai Ranking Consultancy is one of the most trusted international rating agencies for evaluating universities and research institutions.
