Angela Sara Cacciapuoti among 50 InspiringFifty award winners
There is Federiciana Angela Sara Cacciapuoti among the 50 winners of the Italian edition of InspiringFifty. A professor of Quantum Communications and Networks at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, her research interests include quantum information processing, quantum communications and quantum networks.
The award, in its third national edition, is held every three years and recognizes female excellence to 50 women who have distinguished themselves in various capacities in the world of technology, as entrepreneurs, managers, investors, researchers, Italian university professors, and representatives of institutions.
The goal is for the Inspiring Fifty to serve as role models for the younger generation to bring them closer to the STEM world by bridging the gender gap that characterizes these disciplines and to inspire more girls and women to pursue careers in the technology sector and become future leaders and entrepreneurs.
The motto of the initiative is: 'If she can see it, she can do it'.
Inspiring Fifty was founded in the Netherlands in 2013 by two female entrepreneurs in the digital industry, Janneke Niessen and Joelle Frijters, and today it is led by the global network EQL:HER under Informa Tech Founders. In 2023 it also expanded to Canada and South Africa.
Angela Sara Cacciapuoti is professor of Quantum Communications and Networks at the University of Naples Federico II. Her work has appeared in top-tier IEEE journals and she has received several awards, including the "2024 IEEE ComSoc Award for Advances in Communication," the "2022 IEEE ComSoc Best Tutorial Paper Award," the "2022 WICE Outstanding Achievement Award" for her contributions in the field of quantum communications and networks, and the "2021 N2Women: Stars in Networking and Communications." He received the IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Service Award for EMEA 2023, given for outstanding service to IEEE ComSoc in the EMEA region.
He is currently an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer with seminars on quantum Internet design and quantum communications. He is a member of TC SPCOM of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and serves as Area Editor for IEEE Trans. on Communications and Editor/Associate Editor for the journals: IEEE Trans. on Quantum Engineering, IEEE Network and IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials.
