The University of Naples Federico II is hosting the 9th Annual BIBFRAME Workshop in Europe, the leading international event dedicated to the transition from traditional MARC cataloging formats to the BIBFRAME model based on Linked Open Data.
The workshop, which will take place on September 16 and 17, 2025 in the monumental complex of Saints Marcellinus and Festus, brings together experts, librarians, developers, and researchers from national libraries, universities, and research centers from around the world, from the Library of Congress to European and North American universities and Asian experiences.
The initiative represents a high-level discussion on the librarianship of the future and the strategic role of digital libraries for research and knowledge dissemination. The program, strongly oriented toward practical and operational aspects, addresses crucial topics such as the integration of BIBFRAME into library systems, interoperability with international models (LRM, RDA), the use of artificial intelligence, new forms of discovery, and multimedia collection management.
With this event, the University of Frederick confirms its international vocation and its centrality in the field of digital infrastructure for open science and cultural heritage enhancement.
