Federiciana Fabiana Curzietti is awarded the "Amazon Women in Innovation" 2025 scholarship
Fabiana Curzietti, a student in the Computer Engineering degree program at theUniversity of Naples Federico II, is the winner of the seventh edition of "Amazon Women in Innovation," the scholarship promoted and funded by Amazon to help young female students of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines enter the digital economy, innovation and technology sector.
The deserving young woman - along with the winners from the other six Italian universities involved in Amazon's initiative - will benefit from a grant of €6,000 for theacademicyear 2024/25, with thepossibility of renewal in the following two years, along with the opportunity to have an Amazon mentor, a manager from the company with whom to confront in order to develop useful skills for their future career path: from techniques for creating an effective resume, to advice for facing a job interview.
Fabiana Curzietti is 19 years old and lives in Mondragone, in the province of Caserta. She is attending the first year of Computer Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, reaching the university by train every day. Always passionate about mathematics and technology, she initially thought of enrolling in Mathematics, but then decided to lean toward Engineering, to challenge herself and contribute in a concrete way to technological innovation. Her goal is to use innovative tools to create solutions that have a positive social impact, particularly in countering digital risks and supporting cybersecurity. She discovered the scholarship during an online search, even before enrolling in college, and chose to apply, overcoming initial doubts thanks to encouragement from her family.
"In STEM, I found the perfect combination of math and technology, two passions I've always had.Innovation, for me, is the most concrete way to improve society," Fabiana explains. "When I found out about the Amazon Women in Innovation scholarship, I felt that someone really believes in women in this field. I didn't expect to win, and instead it happened. This recognition for me is not just financial help, it is proof that we also have a place in this world. Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity as an investment in myself and one day return the value of the trust I received. I tell girls to never feel "less" than anyone: if you are passionate about something, you have the right to try it. My motto is the Latin saying 'per aspera ad astra': you must always aim high."
"With Amazon Women in Innovation we want to support female talent in STEM disciplines, making a concrete contribution to reducing the gender gap in technology and innovation. We believe that providing concrete opportunities and practical tools, such as scholarships and mentorship, is key to guiding the next generation towards a professional future where their skills, ideas and passions can flourish," said Rita Malavasi, Head of Institutional Relations at Amazon.it. "It is especially gratifying to see our female graduates not only succeed professionally, but become advocates themselves, inspiring the next generation of technology leaders in Italy."
Since 2018, in order to support and incentivize young female university students who are passionate about scientific subjects, Amazon has been awarding the "Amazon Women in Innovation" scholarship. The project is part of the Amazon in the Community program as a support for the growth of new generations in the digital world, and today involves seven Italian universities: along withtheUniversity of Naples Federico II, theUniversity of Cagliari, the University of Catania, the Polytechnic University of Milan, the University of Palermo, the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Polytechnic University of Turin. With the awards announced today, since the year of its launch, the initiative has so far rewarded 33 deserving young people through the provision of as many scholarships and a mentorship with an Amazon manager: meetings dedicated to developing the skills of the future.
