In Bacoli, reading doesn't go on vacation

The Municipal Library 'Pliny the Elder' of Bacoli renews its invitation to reading again this summer , offering a meeting on July 25 and a preview of September's events

On Friday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m., the Scognamiglio Room of Villa Cerillo will host the presentation of the novel Se tu non ridi più by Barbara Perna.

Set between Posillipo and Poggioreale, the book blends irony and introspection, returning an intense reflection on justice as a gesture of care.

The meeting, in collaboration with Bacoli's Il Punto di Partenza bookstore, will feature the author along with Francesca Illiano and Marco Scamardella.

After the summer break, programming resumes with the review "Giovedì d'autore - Literary aperitifs in the park": three meetings at sunset, among books, nature and conversations in the green heart of the city:

Michele Stefanile - Burning and Submerged Lands. Phlegraean Bradyseism and Underwater Archaeology (Intramoenia)
A journey through science, history and underwater ruins of the Phlegraean Fields, guided by the field experience of an underwater archaeologist.

Thursday, Sept. 11
Fuani Marino - Wake Me Up at Midnight (Einaudi)
A meeting included in the review "Voices of Women," promoted by theEqual Opportunities Department of the City of Bacoli. A lucid and necessary memoir about mental health and postpartum depression. Francesco Patierno's film of the same name, presented at the Rome Film Festival 2023, was also based on the book.

Thursday, Sept. 25
Vicenza Alfano - Le Sibille (Solferino)
Also within "Voices of Women," a choral and poetic novel that restores voice to female figures suspended between time and memory, with refined and profound writing.
