From Dec. 9-13, 2025, the MedLIFE 25 Conference will host at the Federico II Conference Center the C.I.R.AM. Winter School - SULIEIA "Resilient Environments: Remediation Strategies for a Sustainable Planet," coordinated by Giulia Guerriero and Domenico Pirozzi.

The initiative is part of the international SULIEIA project and the MedLIFE Mediterranean Conferences, where Winter Schools represent one of the main training actions promoted by the director of the Interdepartmental Center for Research on the Environment (C.I.R.AM.), Giulia Guerriero assisted by experts from 11 departments afferent to the Center.
The school involves 40 students selected on merit from Italian and Mediterranean universities that have joined the SULIEIA project, whose PI is Valeria Costantino. For one week, young people from diverse backgrounds will work side by side with C.I.R.AM. faculty and researchers and their foreign partners on topics ranging from ecotoxicology to renewable energy, with the goal of critically reading environmental pressures and contributing to the ecological transition of the Mediterranean basin.

The program includes keynote lectures, discussions and moments of discussion with experts such as Mohamed Banni (El Manar University, Tunisia), Federica Carraturo, Marwan Ghanem (Birzet University, Palestine), Lucia Simonetti, Mario Amato, Paola Adamo, Massimo Fagnano, Simonetta Giordano, Nourredine Guezgouz (University of Souk Ahras, Algeria) Nunzio Romano, Magdy El Alwany (Suez Canal University, Egypt). They will talk about emerging contaminants, marine microbiota, climate change, environmental governance, metals in soils, sustainable remediation, biomonitoring with plants, mosses and lichens, as well as advanced wastewater purification techniques.
Alongside classroom activities, the Winter School includes a technical internship at Consalt Network in Marcianise (CE), dedicated to energy production systems from renewable sources, with a focus on photovoltaics. The plant visit, led by Danilo Trivisano, will allow students to meet industry professionals and explore the possible employment spin-offs of the skills acquired.

The educational activities and final tests will be held at the C.I.R.AM. headquarters in Via Tarsia 31 (Palazzo Latilla, second floor), Naples. The C.I.R.AM. Winter School - Sulieia, promoted as part of MedLIFE 25, confirms C.I.R.AM.'s role as a laboratory for project ideas and advanced training on environment, sustainability and resilience in the Mediterranean context.
