'Valeria Solesin Award', ninth edition
"Female talent as a determining factor for the development of economy, ethics and meritocracy in our country," is the theme of the ninth edition of the Valeria Solesin Prize.
This year a Special "Population Studies Focus" Award has been included, this award refers to theses that address the subject matter of the call from a demographic perspective.
The deadline for the call is July 31, 2025.
The Prize was created in 2016 by the Forum of Meritocracy, conceived by Paola Corna Pellegrini and in full agreement with the Solesin family, in memory of Valeria, an Italian researcher at the Sorbonne in Paris who tragically died on November 13, 2015 during the massacre that took place at the Bataclan theater.
The call for applications for the Valeria Solesin prize is open to students who have discussed, at any Italian or foreign university, a thesis for a Master's degree (or corresponding degree if the degree is awarded by a foreign university). The degree must be obtained by July 31, 2025 in one of the following subject areas:
Economics, Sociology, Law, Political Science, Psychology, Education Science, Engineering, Data Science, Demography and Statistics. For the ninth edition , the prize money is 31,200.00 euros, distributed in 13 prizes.
After its debut in 2021, theses that address the importance of the gender dimension in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are encouraged again this year, for which there are four "Focus STEM" Special Prizes.
A Special Award "Focus Gender Certification" was also included in 2023, which refers to theses that address the topic of Gender Certification developed within the theme of the call.
Last year, a Special Award "Focus Inclusion of Migrant Women" was added, which refers only to theses that address the topic of inclusion of migrant women within society and the labor market while this year a Special Award "Focus Population Studies" was included: this award refers to theses that address the topic of the call from a demographic perspective.
