"MEDEAE...from Euripides onward."
On Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025,at 9 p.m., Naples' Teatro Instabile, directed by Gianni Sallustro, hosts a special evening: the Neapolitan debut of the play "MEDEAE...from Euripides onward," written, directed and performed by Sarah Falanga, actress, director and founder of Paestum'sAccademia Magna Graecia.
Produced by TeatrInedito AMG and Accademia Magna Graecia, with costumes by Leticia Craig, the show celebrates its 12th year of performances. A powerful journey through centuries and texts, from Euripides to Pasolini, from Seneca to Christa Wolf, to return to the audience an intimate, human, tragically universal Medea. A character forced - as in a Dantesque circle - to relive her story every time the stage lights are turned on.
In this new production, conceived especially for the hall of the Teatro Instabile, the figure of Medea comes to life through a dialogue between present and past, myth and actuality, audience and stage. Together with Sarah Falanga, on stage actors Christian Mirone (also lighting designer), Jacopo Sorbini, Damiano Agresti and Marco Gallotti, in an interweaving of male voices that act as counterpoint to the protagonist. The set design is essential, transforming the scene into a "ring of the soul" where the spectator is immersed and emotionally involved. The cancellation of the fourth wall and the immersive direction make the audience an active witness to the drama.
