"Manon is us"

In October 2024, Rai Cultura staged a major artistic and television project live from the Teatro Regio in Turin: "Manon, Manon, Manon," an original production that staged three different versions of the same heroine, according to Puccini, Auber and Massenet, which were staged in October 2024 and later won the "Franco Abbiati" Award as Best Special Project.

A journey through time and languages - from theater to television to cinema - to question the theme of the feminine, its representation and its social and cultural relevance. A project from which was born "Manon siamo noi" a Special by Rai Cultura, in collaboration with the Production Centers of Turin and Naples, which delves into the meaning of this choral work, interweaving the voices and themes of opera with testimonies and reflections.

The Special will air on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 10:15 a.m. on Rai 5, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On the same day it will also become an occasion for academic dialogue: in fact, the project will enter the classrooms of the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Turin, involved in two separate moments dedicated to students from the Department of Social Sciences in Naples and the Department of Communication Sciences in Turin.

In Naples, at the same time as the TV broadcast, "Manon siamo noi" will be screened and discussed with students by Dora Gambardella, Director of the Department of Social Sciences - University of Naples Federico II; Mathieu Jouvin, superintendent Tearo Regio of Turin; Antonio Parlati, Director of the Rai Naples Production Center; Lello Savonardo, coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in Public, Social and Political Communication - Department of Social Sciences, University of Naples Federico II; Barbara Napolitano, director; Giustina Orientale Caputo, Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree Course in Sociology - Department of Social Sciences, University of Naples Federico II.

Then, at 6 p.m., it will be the turn of the Turin students in connection with their Neapolitan "colleagues."

The screening will be accompanied by the speeches of Gabriella Taddeo, President Degree Course in Communication Sciences; Simona Tirocchi, Professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes; Guido Rossi, Director of Rai Turin Production Center; Marta Teodoro, Author; Barbara Napolitano, Director, in connection from Naples.
