On Saturday, October 3, starting at 10 a.m. in the Sciurella Room at the Royal Palace, there will be a presentation of *Carbonari del Sud: Sectarianism, the State, and Society in Pre-Unification Southern Italy* by Marco Meriggi
A new event in the“Libri di Storia” series — a series of book presentations organized by the Historical Sciences Section of the Department of Humanities at Federico II University. The program features a presentation of the book “Carbonari del Sud. Sectarianism, State, and Society in Pre-Unification Southern Italy" by Marco Meriggi (fedOA - Federico II University Press, 2025).
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Royal Palace, Sciurella Hall (Conference Room), Piazza del Plebiscito, 1 (Campania Libri Festival).
The discussion will feature Carolina Castellano, associate professor of Contemporary History and Social History in the Department of Social Sciences at Federico II University, and Marco Rovinello, full professor of Contemporary History in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Calabria.
The “History Books” series is distinctive in that it represents the entire Historical Sciences Section, as the individual book discussion sessions are organized, on a case-by-case basis, by members of the section. In this way, the initiative successfully reflects the richness and diversity of the interests cultivated within the Section, which—spanning a chronological arc from antiquity to the most recent contemporary period—weave together extremely varied methodological approaches and interpretive perspectives.
