'The Ways of Water,' the film that combines history, law and cinema

An original encounter between historical-legal research and cinematic language, capable of combining reflection on the law and culture of 16th-century merchants with the experiences and sensibilities of the younger generation. This is how one can summarize the film Le vie dell'acqua, directed by Fabio Masi and produced by Growing Production, which will be screened at the Academy Astra Cinema, via Mezzocannone 109, on Nov. 24, 2025 at 3:30 p.m., with free admission.

The screening, as part of the Federiciano F2 Cultura program, will be held in the presence of director Fabio Masi and part of the crew. To attend the screening, it is necessary to register on the form by noon on Nov. 23, 2025.

The film, which premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival (Venice Production Bridge), is set between Padua and Venice, where a group of students, starting from a theater project inspired by Goldoni's I mercatanti , embark - through friendship, personal growth and the conscious use of technology - on a journey of discovery of the historical and cultural itineraries that marked the formation of European commercial law between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age.

The work, created within the framework of the European ERC project "Migrating Commercial Law and Language (MICOLL)," was conceived and coordinated by Professor Stefania Gialdroni of the University of Padua with the intention of promoting dialogue between research, art and education, contributing to a shared reflection on European identity and the cultural connections that run through it.
