The 5G Academy is enriched and establishes a new training path completely dedicated to artificial intelligence and smart networks. The path is built around the specific thematic program "AI-Native Networks: Engineering the Infrastructure of the AI Era," co-designed by theUniversity of Naples Federico II with Fastweb + Vodafone and aimed exclusively at students and young graduates in STEM disciplines.
The integration of Artificial Intelligence in infrastructures is set to profoundly transform the architecture and management of digital networks, making possible increasingly autonomous, efficient and scalable systems. The path therefore delves into key topics of next-generation telecommunications, including 5G and 6G networks, cloud-edge architectures, intelligent service orchestration and applications of Artificial Intelligence for the management and evolution of network infrastructures. The course combines advanced training and project work.
For the 2026 edition, projects will all be developed in collaboration with Fastweb + Vodafone, allowing participants to work on real cases and innovative solutions for next-generation network infrastructure. The advanced training course, aimed at undergraduates and recent graduates in STEM disciplines, expands the educational offerings of the 5G Academy - FIVEG (Future Interactive Immersive Efficient Green Technologies) - and aims to train talents capable of designing and governing the network infrastructures of the new era of Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, it aims to strengthen collaboration between universities and industry in developing the digital infrastructure of the future.
The "AI-Native Networks: Engineering the Infrastructure of the AI Era" track will run from May to October 2026 at the Federico II University's San Giovanni a Teduccio Technological Campus and is open to 33 students from engineering, mathematics and computer science disciplines, with 3 places reserved for students with disabilities. Participation is free of charge.
