"ABC trees | forest | city. The role of landscape design."

Trees are form, function, beauty, garrison and personality; a living, pulsating and relational infrastructure with its own evolutionary dynamics and systemic interactions with contexts. Trees, woods, forests respond to the design of urban space, in awareness of the adaptive and transformative capacities of ecological, climatic, social, and aesthetic dimensions of cities and in building a culture of complexity and design responsibility.

This will be discussed during the conference "ABC trees | forest | city. The role of landscape design," scheduled for Dec. 4, 2025, from 9 a.m., in the Great Hall of the Department of Architecture in Palazzo Gravina.

Daniela Colafranceschi of DiARC; Keynote Speech by writer Antonella Cilento, on 'Only of Men Can the Forest Die. The Forest of Cumae'.

The meeting proposes an interscalar and disciplinarily transversal look at the relational characters of landscape design, between habitat and urban space, crossing works, projects, investigations, narratives, attitudes.

ABC is an initiative organized with the contribution of the University Federico II. Seminar organized as part of the Landscape Architecture courses, Architectural and Urban Composition Workshops | Landscape Architecture | 3rd year.
