The free online platform to prepare for the "Semestre Aperto" in Medicine is now available
The initiative was proposed by MUR and CRUI and implemented in collaboration with CISIA. Simulation exercises are also available to students to help them prepare for their exams.
The platform www.semestreaperto-medodovet.it is now online, dedicated to preparing students for the “Open Semester,” the new pathway for admission to bachelor’s degree programs in Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine.
Sponsored by the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), in collaboration with the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and developed through the CISIA Interuniversity Consortium, this tool is completely free and designed to complement university lectures and activities organized by the universities.
The platform supports students in their preparation by providing educational content, self-assessment tools, and exam simulations.
Exercises and quizzes related to high school chemistry, physics, and biology curricula are already available on the website; these tools are designed to allow students to self-assess and consolidate their prior knowledge before the start of the Open Semester.
Training modules covering these same curricula will also be uploaded shortly.
With the start of the Open Semester, students will have access to practice exercises based on the biology, physics, chemistry, and introductory biochemistry syllabi for the 2026–2027 academic year, designed to assess their mastery of the topics covered in the various instructional units addressed in the lectures.
Finally, students will be able to take practice exams simulating the final exams that will be administered at the end of the semester, replicating both the number and type of questions as well as the duration of the exam.
This initiative reaffirms the shared commitment of MUR and CRUI to providing students with practical, accessible, free, and high-quality tools.
The platform complements other tools already available, such as those developed by the MOOD project, which has been active since 2024 and is promoted by the Permanent Conferences of Master’s Degree Programs in Medicine and Dentistry.
The common goal of these initiatives is to provide a variety of tools capable of supporting students’ gradual and informed preparation, guiding them through a crucial phase of their university orientation and education.
