New Theater Season at the Augusteo in Naples
A packed program featuring 11 shows, including musicals, comedies, and traditional plays. The season kicks off on November 6.
The 2026–2027 season ticket campaign for the new theater season at the Augusteo Theater in Naples, directed by Giuseppe and Roberta Caccavale,is now underway.
The program features a rich lineup of 11 performances, including musicals, comedies, and traditional operas, with one free performance and two to choose from for season ticket holders.
The theater continues the artistic vision established over the years, featuring titles linked to the city’s artistic and cultural history and those that have shaped the history of Italian theater, while also bringing in fresh energy and young talent to preserve tradition, focusing on up-and-coming artists, and offering a program suited to the times. A program that combines artistic quality, entertainment, and tradition to offer audiences a rich theatrical experience and engage an ever-wider audience.
From Friday, November 6, to Sunday, November 15, 2026, “Aggiungi un posto a tavola, ” the hugely popular musical comedy by Garinei and Giovannini, featuring Giovanni Scifoni and Lorella Cuccarini as special guests—an unforgettable production of a great Italian classic.
From Friday, November 20, to Sunday, November 29, “La valigia sul letto” by Eduardo Tartaglia—who stars in the play alongside Veronica Mazza—returns to the stage for its 18th anniversary, promising fun and emotion with a contemporary story.
As an option for season ticket holders, by popular demand, “C’era una volta… Scugnizzi,” from Friday, December 18, through Sunday, January 10, 2027. Written and directed by Claudio Mattone, who also composed the lyrics and music. The play tells the story of Don Saverio, a street priest, and a group of Neapolitan street urchins who will thrill the audience with their voices.
From Friday, January 15, through Sunday, January 24, Carlo Buccirosso’s highly anticipated new show, titled “L’esorcismo di Don Tonino, ” which he also directs. A hilarious comedy that blends humor and humanity while exploring profound themes.
From Friday, February 5, through Sunday, February 14, Gianfranco Gallo will take center stage in “Un turco per forza, ” which he also directs and adapted from Eduardo Scarpetta’s *Nu turco napolitano*: The play brings to life the amusing adventures of Felice Sciosciammocca, forced to pretend to be something he is not in order to find his place in the world.
From Friday, February 26, through Sunday, March 7, Serena Autieri ’s new show . The talented Neapolitan actress and performer will captivate and move the audience with her boundless energy and elegance.
From Friday, March 12, through Sunday, March 21, Peppe Iodice will play “Il solito napoletano” in a hilarious “journey” through the corridors of power, beyond political correctness, directed by Francesco Mastandrea.
From Wednesday, March 31, through Sunday, April 4 , “Singing in the Rain,” starring Lorenzo Grilli with a special appearance by Martina Stella and choreography by Luciano Cannito. This show, available as an option for season ticket holders, will bring to the stage the atmosphere of Broadway musicals and the magic of the great cinematic classic.
From Friday, April 16, to Sunday, April 25, “’O scarfalietto” by Eduardo Scarpetta, staged by the Nuova Compagnia Politeama with a cast to be announced and directed by Rosario Sparno. A perfectly crafted comedy filled with misunderstandings and absurdities stemming from a trivial marital spat.
The season finale will feature Paolo Caiazzo and Ciro Ceruti in the show “Chiacchiere e distintivo,” with Caiazzo also serving as director, scheduled from Friday, April 30, through Sunday, May 9. A most welcome return, some 20 years after the successful sitcom first aired.
The season will open with a tribute to season ticket holders, scheduled from Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27: “Bentornata Piedigrotta, ” a musical fantasy blending history, myths, and Neapolitan songs, conceived and directed by Leonardo Ippolito.
And there will also be shows and concerts by major artists—to name just a few: Francesco Renga, Vinicio Capossela, Brunori sas, Malika Ayane, Fiorella Mannoia, Francesca Michielin, Arisa, and Gigi Finizio; as well as events featuring intellectuals such as Corrado Augias, Umberto Galimberti, and Paolo Crepet; plus performances by students of the Accademia Augusteo and many other music and cultural events to be announced in the coming days.
