To Professor Angelina Lombardi the Malatesta Prize 2025 from the Italian Chemical Society
Angelina Lombardi, professor of general and inorganic chemistry in the Department of Chemical Sciences at the Federico II University, received the prestigious Lamberto Malatesta Medal awarded by the Division of Inorganic Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society.
The award, named after the memory of Professor Lamberto Malatesta in recognition of his contribution to the development of the community of Italian inorganic chemists, is given to a scientist or scientist at the height of his or her scientific maturity who has achieved outstanding results in the field of Inorganic Chemistry. The award was given to Professor Lombardi "for her original and innovative contribution to bioinorganic chemistry through the development of artificial metalloenzymes."
The award was presented by Division President Professor Mario Chiesa during the 50th National Congress of the Division of Inorganic Chemistry held in Naples, Italy, Sept. 9-12, 2025, at the Aula Magna Partenope of the Conference Center of the University of Naples Federico II.
At the awards ceremony, Professor Lombardi gave a plenary lecture entitled "Shaping catalysis: the beauty and power of artificial metalloenzymes."
