History of the Cultural Heritage

With regard to the History of the Cultural Heritage Section, the historical-archaeological research  themes are articulated over a vast chronological front, from the pre-historic age to the Greco-Roman one, through an intense study and excavation activity in the contexts of centre-southern Italy and the Roman provinces of the Nearby East and Anatolia. The research programmes, carried out through conventions and ministerial concessions, deal with analyzing sites of particular relevance, privileging the incisive characters, the cultural material, the artistic productions, the history, the epigraphy and numismatics. The research projects, in the historic-artistic sector, deal with sculptures, painting and architecture and operate in a chronological arch with starts from the mediaeval age and goes up to the artistic production from a strictly more contemporary age. There is a particular development for museum graphic research projects, artistic literature, the study of sources from the 19th and 20th centuries, above all in the southern field, the history of the theatre, German musical theatre  from the 19th century and the classical  Neapolitan musical tradition.
