General and Clinical Pathology

The area is focused on the study of molecular oncology, intracellular signaling, molecular pathology of diabetes mellitus and its chronic complications and comorbidities. The research is oriented to define the activity and the therapeutic potential of oncolytic viruses and to identify innovative tumor biomarkers; to define the molecular basis of cancer associated with obesity and diabetes; to study the calcium / calmodulin-dependent kinase signaling; to investigate the innate and adaptive immune response and its regulation in models of immune-mediated disorders, autoimmune diseases and cancer; to investigate the role of the epigenome on the risk of diabetes, identifying innovative strategies for type 2 diabetes treatment and for the prevention of complications and comorbidities; to identify the biological basis of adipocytes differentiation and their role in human pathology.
