Seismic Risk

The research in the field of seismic risk is oriented to themes that are of interest for the Civil Protection, developing theoretical and applicative studies on the following themes:

  • Early warning systems;
  • Operational seismic hazard forecasting;
  • Seismic hazard analysis;
  • Seismic Intensity Measure Selection/ Ground Motion Record Selection;
  • Performance-based earthquake engineering;
  • Analytical Seismic Fragility assessment;
  • Empirical Seismic Fragility assessment;
  • Seismic collapse assessment;
  • Seismic loss assessment;
  • Cascading effects in seismic risk assessment;
  • Seismic Risk Assessment for Spatially-Distributed Infrastructures;
  • Seismic Resilience;
  • Insurance and re-insurance models for earthquakes;
  • Irregular structures
  • Structural control/isolation
  • Behavior of Nonstructural elements
  • Seismic vulnerability of buildings
  • Repair and retrofit of existing structures

The research is performed in synergy with other national and international universities and research centers in the framework of research projects that are specific for the research field (Reluis 2014-2018) and that allow the application of the research results that are useful for the Civil Protection (Metropolis).
